Ushkov Russian Research Centre Kurchatov Institute, Moscow, Russia Abstract The accelerator complex of the KCSR consists of 2.5 GeV main storage ring, 450 MeV booster storage ring and 80 MeV linac. A project of the complex modernization comprising new brighter optical lattices of main storage ring and new injection system were developed in KCSR. New optical lattices will allow to reduce natural beam emittance from present 100 nm∙rad to 18 nm∙rad. But due to significant decrease of dynamic aperture the efficiency of injection from the booster storage ring having big natural emittance will be drastically reduced. A new 2.5 GeV booster synchrotron (BS) with 50 nm∙rad emittance was developed to overcome this problems. It will be placed in the same tunnel with main ring. Modernization project provides for a possibility to increase injection energy from linac to BS from 80 MeV to 160 MeV by double electron bunches transition through linac structure. ª – corresponding author |

FIRST RESULTS OF THE RADIATION MEASUREMENTS NEAR SIBERIA-2 STORAGE RING |
|
V. Korchuganov, V. Novikov, V. Ushkovª Russian Research Centre Kurchatov Institute, Moscow, Russia Abstract When an electron is lost in the storage ring due to a bremsstrahlung it produces high energy photons. These photons, in turn, produce neutrons. In the vicinity of the storage ring the residual radiation field is dominated by these photons and neutrons. The report describes first results of the radiation field measurements. The measurement was carried out by a set of high sensitivity to scattered particles monitors which were placed near the vacuum chamber at critical positions of the ring. The extended use of beam loss monitoring gives a better understanding of the linear and non-linear physics involved in the single and multiple particle dynamics. ª – corresponding author |

Ushkov, A. Valentinov, A. Vernov, Yu. Yupinov, A. Zabelin Russian Research Centre Kurchatov Institute, Moscow, Russia Abstract Kurchatov Synchrotron Radiation Source (KSRS) works for the experiments in the range of SR from VUV up to hard X-ray. Recently a project of technical modernization of KSRS was carried out. It consists of 3 parts: the enlargement of useful experimental hall surface by means of the new building; upgrade of accelerator facilities and injection scheme to improve the SR complex capabilities; construction of new beam lines and experimental stations around Siberia-2 facility. The building was started from the end of 2007. The technical upgrade of SR complex will start in 2009. The report describes the current work and plans at accelerator facilities. The achieved consumer parameters of an electron beam are given. ª – corresponding author |
