Introduction

The Joint Accelerator Conferences Website (JACoW) Collaboration has implemented a scientific programme management system (SPMS) based on Oracle and a number of software packages.  The system is designed to manage all contributions to a conference programme, from abstract submission through to the production of proceedings.  It can function in “stand alone” mode, or together with profile data contained in a Central Repository compiled and maintained by the JACoW Administrator.

When submitting a contribution to a conference, the system "recognizes" a contributor or owner of a profile, and proposes relevant data taken from that individual's profile, avoiding tedious and repetitive data entry for conference contributors, and extensive verification for organizers.

JACoW Collaboration conferences receive a copy of the repository data when setting up the SPMS for a new conference.  Throughout the organization of the conference the conference repository and the central repository are synchronized.  Following the conference, the central repository is updated with specific conference data (titles of contributions, authors, etc.) and the repository data used on connection with the organization of the conference must thereafter be destroyed.
