Investigation of the FWHM for the Field Electron Source

  Electron sources, forming a charged beam with field electron emission, known for its inertia and monochromaticity. However, in such beams the particles are spread on the total and normal energies. The measure of the narrowness of the particles energy spectrum is considered to be the full width at half maximum (FWHM). This narrowness depends on the temperature, the work function and the electric field strength at the surface. In structures with coatings additional parameters are the properties of the deposited material and its thickness. One-dimensional model for the problem of FWHM value minimizing is considered. Cases of conditional optimization with equality and inequality constraints are investigated numerically.
