Description |
A Main Classification in the sense of the SPMS is a main field of interest covered in the scientific programme, for instance Accelerator Technology, or Synchrotron Light Sources, or Applications of Accelerators, etc. A Sub Classification, is a sub set of each Main Classification. For instance, Superconducting RF or Vacuum or Magnets are sub-classifications of Accelerator Technology. The same Sub Classification may be a included in sub sets of several different Main Classifications The combination of Main and Sub Classifications provides a more refined and precise identification by subject matter of contributions to the scientific programme, useful particularly for conferences covering a wide spectrum of subject matter. A clear and coherent classification system: - facilitates the identification of classifications for submitting authors who are required to enter a Classification upon abstract submission - facilitates the task of the Scientific Programme Committee when selecting contributions for oral presentation - facilitates the sorting, grouping and placing of contributions within the poster sessions by subject matter. The "Combined Main and Sub Classifications" screen allows the Administrator to make the associations between Main and Sub Classifications. The Administrator selects the Main Classifications via the popup list under Classification (this is a view of the contents of the Main Classification table) and Sub Classification (a view of the contents of the Sub Classification table) and then clicks on “Save New Combination” to associate the two. Note that while submitting authors see the Main and their associated Sub Classifications in the Search/Edit screen, Administrators see ALL Main and ALL Sub Classifications in the Search/Edit screen. Administrators can view/check the Main and their associated Sub Classifications via the My Contribution screen. When the System Parameters/Enable Automatic Poster ID Assignment is set to “Yes”, the Combine Main and Sub Classifications screen provides the means to group posters by Main and Sub Classification and to place them into Sessions, to sort them by Affiliation and Last Name of Submitting Author (village system) and to automatically generate the poster programme codes. See Maintenance Tables/Session for more information on how to define Sessions. Example of Main Classifications (codes 01 and 02) and a few of their associated Sub Classifications (codes A01, 02, 05, 06, A14) from EPAC’06 Code Main Classification 01 Circular Colliders - A01 Hadron Colliders - A02 Lepton Colliders - A14 Advanced Concepts 02 Synchrotron Light Sources - A05 Synchrotron Radiation Facilities - A06 Free Electron Lasers - A14 Advanced Concepts |
