AB  - We present a new type of longitudinal microbunching instability entitled ’Plasma-Cascade Instability’. This instability could occur in beams propagating along a straight section with external focusing elements. We present a theoretical description of this instability as well as self-consistent 3D simulations. Finally, we present results of experimental observation of Plasma-Cascade Instability at frequencies up to 10 THz using SRF linear accelerator built for Coherent electron Cooling experiment *.
