The combination of individual fibers for each recirculation beam pipe with ma-PMTs allows to detect beam losses turn by turn in the order of 10⁻⁴ or even lower which cannot be accomplished with the already existing beam diagnostics. This kind of beam loss monitor might be an alternative to ionisation chambers for the new Mainz Energy Recovering Superconducting Accelerator (MESA).
