The NSLS-II beamlines (BLs) and frontends (FEs) are designed under assumption that above certain safe beam current the ID synchrotron radiation (IDSR) fan is produced by the interlocked e-beam. In this paper we describe a new approach to defining the AIS parameters and settings, which significantly simplifies the process of the FE and BL design.
