This facility aims to develop a prototype system of the mass production model of BNCT systems as medical apparatus. The beam power and the beam energy at the neutron production target are assumed to about 60 kW and 10 MeV, respectively. The energy will be finally decided to optimize the ratio of necessary epi-thermal and other energy of neutron. If the energy is 10 MeV, 60 kW beam power can be achieved with a beam current of 30 mA and a duty factor of 20%. The linac consists of an ECR ion source, a two-solenoid-magnet LEBT, a four-vane RFQ, and an Alvarez DTL, which are very conventional as components of proton linac. To make the accelerator compact, we are considering to use a 400-MHz band resonant frequency. As a medical apparatus, it is required that the linac system is stable and operated easily without experts of accelerator. The design of proton linac is one of the most important issues in our development. In this paper, the baseline design of this OIST BNCT linac is described.
