Many of the future light source projects require challenging electron beam quality from the injector. The predicted performance of the light source is based on beam dynamics simulations with different codes, especially also in the injector part. On the other hand, there are lots of experimental data, which allow a detailed comparison with different simulation codes. The aim of the benchmarking is to supply a consistent set of experimental data, to prove the applicability of the various models and codes for existing and future guns, and to find the limits in the theoretical description of the experimental problem. The task is a simultaneous simulation of a consistent set of measurements. As the data sample we suggested measurements done at PITZ. The data were mainly acquired during one shift and the measured electron beam properties are close to the optimum obtained at PITZ1. The motivation is to understand beam dynamics features in the photo injector by means of simultaneous simulations of various beam measurements.
