The current and future superconducting radiofrequency (SRF) cavities designs and working frequencies lead to a variety of shapes and sizes to be coated. In this work we present the constraints to coat complex 3D geometries and the challenges of obtaining uniform SC layer properties with different coating techniques. It will be supported by concrete examples from ongoing cavities coating production and studies for future projects at CERN.
