The high luminosity experiments ATLAS and CMS would like to keep a small central chamber radius close the interaction point. In the context of collider-experiment studies for the high-luminosity upgrade of the LHC, we present a first study of the possible consequences of these changes for the experimental running conditions based on detailed simulations with tracking. We have started to implement crab cavity failures and discuss first results from these simulations.
