The geometry of the accelerator involves large surfaces which are exposed to high electric fields and therefore need long procedures for conditioning. An automated system for conditioning has been developed. It reacts quicker to breakdowns than a human operator could do, thus being more effective and also reduces the time spent by research staff on the conditioning.
